Obedient in the Position by Alexandra Esperance
Jul 04, 2023This past week has been a week of gratefulness and excitement. As I receive my graduation approval email to confirm I will be graduating with my Bachelor of Healthcare Management. I started making my own plans on which job I would go after and how I will apply this new wealth of knowledge with my diploma as proof.
I shared with a close friend that I was deciding to leave my governmental job and go into the private sector. I began working for the government once I graduated with my associate’s degree over 15 years ago and now I was deciding to close the door to working for the government once I graduate with my second degree.
But the Lord quickly sat me down and reminded me that He was in charge of my life. As I was studying Genesis 11 and 12, which gives lineage information about Abraham and when God told Abraham to leave his country, his family, and his father’s house.
God revealed to me that there is PROTECTION and DELIVERANCE in OBEDIENCE. Of course, there are countless scriptures, especially in Psalms that can reference this revelation. But I found it particularly interesting that God would find a way to get His message across to me even in the unsuspected scriptures. After God took me on a whirlwind of scriptures and revelations, it sunken that a position may look or feel dreadful, but it can be your place of elevation and deliverance not only for you but for those attached to you.
Abraham left a country and family who worshipped other idols. Abraham being obedient to God’s instruction was his deliverance from his family bloodline which allowed God to establish a nation to Himself through Abraham. During my study, I found out that Abraham’s native home is linked to Babylon. We all know Babylon’s history was not pleasant in the sight of God or people. Although Babylon was used as a tool to punish the people of Israel, God elevated Daniel within the Babylonian kingdom.
God also cursed Babylon before the enslavement of the people of Israel.
In Jeremiah 25 v 12 “But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians,[b] for their guilt,” declares the LORD, “and will make it desolate forever”
As I was doing my study, God brought back to my remembrance my first government job in 2007, a year prior to the US recession. I obtained this particular job on my second attempt. My job was safe and secure during the recession, even in my B.C. days (Before Christ) I was secure under His pavilion.
Here’s a fun fact, I obtained my current job on my second attempt as well. With all the talk about recession and dollars decreasing in value, I never fret because the last recession God made sure I was recession-proof.
Needless to say, the urge of planning to leave the government once I graduated subsided. I’ve become more settled in listening to the instructions of the Lord. With my purpose being attached to the government sector, I understand that I have a level of protection in the position that God placed me in.
So, heed to the instructions and remain in the position that God placed you until He reveals your next instructions. You never know what He is protecting or delivering you from.
